Default best swap

what is the best swap for a 96 civic 4 door lx to get torque and horsepower at a reasonable price?....

Define "reasonable"

i'm partial to the GSR but thats just because i have one good low RPM torque and decent HP. There are a million options though. The LS/Vtec and CR/Vtec make great power but you have to build it. The H22 is even stronger but it throws the weight balance off, a relatively cheap B16 can be built up pretty easily but by the time you do that you have spent as much as a stock type R. The options are extremely broad. Do some research and come to your own conclusions. Ultimately those are the only ones that really matter.

IMHO, For cost vs time effective, drop it in and go racing, simplicity i still like the B18C1.
