4" Intercooler Too big?
friend has a Dual backdoor FMIC off a SRT 4 and it almost lines up perfectly for my setup but its 4" thick. wont that cause alot of pressure drop for me since 4" seems like a huge overkill. if anyone has experience with a 4" FMIC lemme know.
Setup is going on a 400-450 whp GSR built civic.

it's not so much the pressure drop as it is a 4" thick core, the thicker the core, the fractionally less effective the additional thickness is.
I think a 3" core is about as much as you'd need, 4" really goes too much, unless you're running like 700-800whp or more.

Although i dont know the rest of the dimensions of the intercooler, i would assume that this is going to be quite a bit larger than necessary. Most times a 4" core is used for higher HP setups (600-700+)

I wouldn't. Bigger is not always better with intercoolers. 24x12x4 is extremely big.............that's a 700whp intercooler.
I'd say, unless you're running 550whp daily, it's way overkill. You'd get quite a pressure drop across it if you're not running that much power.

Unless you're making an unreasonable amount of power, i would get a smaller intercooler. Just know that the larger the intercooler, the more air inside that has to be displaced before the engine sees boost....that means, the bigger the IC, the more lag.
