Custom turbo-how to regulate boost?
Say I got a 14g eclipse turbo with a built in wastegate and used it for my turbo setup. How would I go about regulating the boost down from stock since its stock psi is too high for my engine? I can't adjust the wastegate since its internal, and my manifold would need to be welded to have a hole for an external wastegate, so I would rather stick with an internal wastegate turbo. I'm trying to get my custom setup done ASAP, so any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
You honestly don't think that 12-14psi is too much for a completely stock engine? I know for a fact that my weak SOHC D16 can't handle that. So, how do I regulate the psi?
That turbo doesnt run stock at 12 psi. It may be ECU controlled to give more boost and run maybe 12 psi on a mitsu, but the wastegate it self should open around 7-8psi. I'm not sure on teh exact number, but it wont be that much boost stock. IF you wanted to go lower I beleive you can cut the actuator rod, snip out a bit, thread the ends and reconnect with a coupler. But I'm not 100% sure on how this setup works. maybe one of the guys with a little more experience could shed some more light.

OK, that's good news. I thought I ran into another speedbump with my setup. The snipping of the actuator arm sounds logical, but I doubt it would be necessary. Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure of what the 14g (or did u mean 14b off the 1g dsm's) w/g boosts stock, but a friend of mine has a t-25 and he coudln't keep it below like 10psi. He bought a $60 wastegate canister from TEC with a 6psi spring... problems solved.
