Really Hot Valve Cover
Hello. I was wondering if after driving a car after 5 mins and touching the valve cover to find that it is unbearably touchable due to it being extremely hot a normal thing? I can drive my Civic for about 5-10 mins and when I open up the hood, the Valve Cover is so hot that it's just amazing.. I checked my radiator fluid and my oil and they're both right. My hot needle never passes the center, it's always below the middle line. I mean yeah, it's a motor they get hot but this just seems a bit weird.. Anyone know what this could mean?
if your temp gauge is where it is supposed to be and all your fluids are good then you are fine jus dont go feeling your valve cover every time you drive the car.
You are only in trouble if your exhaust gets untouchable because it is so hot. Go grab that and see if that is hot too. If so, report back to us stat!

O-kay. Well, I guess Honda's are the only ones to get so hot then, since other cars don't get that hot. I just asked since the car heated up a few times in the past as in up to the top of the gauge bar or w/e also my friend races his civic a lot and his doesn't heat up so much. I'll just merit the truth about econo cars and try not to expect much from it.
your friend probably has a swap in his civic so it would be a DOHC as your civic is most likely a SOHC which b/c everything is moving a lil faster and there is not as much surface area on a SOHC compared to a DOHC it is hotter i have almost burned my hand at times when im not paying attention. as long as your gauges are working properly you are fine.
