Default 01 civic front brakes (rotors)

I purchase two front rotors for my 01 Civic. The parts guy at the dealership said I had to resurface the rotors before I use them because there is a possibility the rotors might be warped from the factory. This doesn’t make sense to buy a new product and rebuilding it. I don’t know. Any thoughts?

warped from the factory or not, you should always resurface your rotors ... it is better to be safe than sorry ... $7 a rotor is not bad to ensure a safe drive ... you dont have to resurface them ... but i do HIGHLY recommend doing so

I understand what are you saying about safety issue, better to be safe than sorry. Can you give me a better understand behind the ideal of resufacing a new rotor, is it a honda requirement? Thanks

a long time ago, when you bought rotors, they didnt come machined. so you had to do it yourself. Ive been working on cars for a long time now, and OEM or not, i havent seen a brand new rotor that needed to be turned out of the box, ever. As long as you see crosshatch marks, youre ok. if it looks like a rough surface, machine them. If you got them at the dealer, they are ready to install.
