Realistic hp goals? (b16a2)
Building my b16, wondering if my hp goals are attainable or not...
B16a2
GSR I-Cam
ITR E-Cam
Supertech Valve springs, seals, retainers, guides
everything else (pistons etc) stock b16
JRSC Supercharger
LHT air-water intercooler
10-11psi
Hacked down ebay intake
DSM 450 Injectors
4-1 Kamikaze header
WS2 exhaust
Warbro 255 pump
all going to be tuned with hondata s200b
Does 250ish whp seem realistic? What would be next if I want to crack 300 w/o going turbo? This is still going to be by DD, so I'm not really looking to get turbo cams with rough idles...
Thought about going crvtec (b20z bottom end with the 16 head) ... think that route may be viable? There's already quite a bit of low end with the charger so I'm not sure how much the higher displacement will be like..

I dont know if you have a problem with turbos or not but forced induction is forced induction. I am finishing up my set up right now and everything is stock except some 680cc precision injectors. I am running a t3\t4 with 10psi and air\air intercooler and the guy down at the local speedshop that is tunning it said 300whp no problem so with your setup you should get at least 250 if not more just make sure you get a good tune. it makes all the diffrence.
Its cool that you dont know anything but dont hate. Thats what tunning is for. I can take a 250cc injector and open it for .5 secs and then take a 680cc injector and open it for .1 seconds and get the same amount of fuel. Thats not completly accurate but the example is for illustration. so not only is the injector working less during non boost rpms but can also supply the fuel need during boost. and I think it was honda tunning mag that I read a article about a guy running a b16 with all stock but 9:1 pistons. I mean stock headgasket, head bolts, rods, crank, bearings, everything and was running 24psi@500whp and the article went on to say how honda engines are very strong and people are quick to blame bent rods on stock parts when it was poor ignition timimg so as you can see 10psi on stock app is nothing as long as you get a good tune!
Just my .02 but my buddy boosted his b16 complelty stock internals with a t3/t4 and made 301 whp. He was on rc550's and tuned on a chipped ecu. so say he was running hondata or similar they probably could have squeaked out a few more numbers. Bad thing is the motor blew to **** about 6 months later.
Your power goals are realistic; however, i think you would have been better off with a turbo setup

Really?? Then how did my 315whp GSR last for 2 years before i tore it down and swapped a built LS/VTEC...

I know turbos would give me more numbers, but I really like the low end with the blower...

Well like I said in my previous post, the article was all about a good tune even the slightest degree of ignition timming could cause excesse wear on the motor and to be honest I really want the motor to go so I can pull it and get it sleeved and ready for 30psi. but I am far from that. so I will settle for the 10psi for now.

Honestly, 250 is optimistic... JRSCers are terrible for high reving engines, and I don't think they produce more than 7-8PSI of boost.

Well I am just a heavily trained auto tech with all my ase including my L1 and recognized by the state of texas as a emissions repair tech. so my knowlage of tunning is limited but my knowlage of vehicles is much more vast. so you dont know what you are talking about.
