My million dollar dillema...Turbo B16a2 or JRSC B18C1
Ok, so ive been researching for a couple weeks on this, and heres what ive been able to get of it. BUT I dont want to turbo the B18c1 and I dont wanna JRSC the B16.
Turbo B16a2 or JRSC B18C1
- B16's suck stock
- Boost isnt good when im doing to drive my car daily
- B18C1 will make more power
- B16 will hold max 12 psi on stock internals
- B18c1 will have way more torque
Not sure if any of that is true...but what do you guys think? My goal is that after tuning and everything im making 275-300 whp and around 200 wtq. Maybe not attainable, but i want to try.

Get the b16, freshen it up with a new headgasket and ARP headstuds, gsr cams and a nice intake manifold. Jeff Evans is getting 345hp out of stock block b16's- You could hit 300 hp and still be streetable/reliable if you get it tuned right

300 hp is hard to get out of a B18 using a supercharger, but easy to hit with either a B16, or B18 using a turbo. At 300hp you really dont need to worry about reliability, if its tuned right.

Re: My million dollar dillema...Turbo B16a2 or JRSC B18C1 (sc4dr)
so, no big mods to the bottom end for 300whp?? The program that my tuner uses is CROME...ive seen him do some amazing things on our LS/Vtec hatch here at the shop. So it will be tuned
Is there any need for upgrading the oil pump? Is it possible to use the B18c5 type-r oil pump? (im a d-series guy...new to the B)
What headgasket would you choose for the B16? Ive read mixed reviews on Cometic. Maybe OEM?

No offense, but you really don't know what you're talking about. I drove my 97 civic EX daily through the worst MN winters you can imagine with my first turbo setup, and now I have a turbo GSR motor in my coupe that's running great (once it's tuned, it's alright for now on a basemap).
It's all in the install and tuning, not the fact that you daily drive a turbocharged car.
Why do you want to turbo the B16 and not the GSR? Turbo whatever motor's in your car currently, you're not really gonna go wrong either way.

All the things ive listed was what i was told by others...not my own beliefs. The reason for not turbocharging the B18C1 is well not in my budget.

That is the last Stock block b16a that I did. You can boost all day everyday as long as you don't cut corners and have a nice tune.

No. But he had them left over from a previous build. They idle just like stock.

Go with the B16 i think its more turbo friendly, both motors are great though. Plus the B16 is cheaper...

what? first off you are wrong the b18c1 is great for boost plus if you have it turbo'd it has better boost response and faster spool times
