Default is this dent bad?

i just got a junkyard turbo and when i recieved it it had a little dent.. just wondering if the dent will cause problems? thanks!

as long as the seal is ok.. does it look messed up where the housing meets the cast part? i would take the plate off and hammer it flat and bolt it back on.

Looks like a Volvo turbo you got there. I would say it needs to be checked to make sure it did not bend the seal plate. If you sent it to a rebuilder a good used seal plate is like 20 bucks.

yea it is an old volvo turbo im gonna use for my b18b. the seal doesnt look broken so i think im good.. but do you know of a reputable rebuilder? i wouldnt mind to see how much it would be to get a rebuild.. thanks!

more than u can buy a new one of them turbo for usually. unless u do it your self.

well i mean i have some mechanical knowledge but how hard is it to rebuild myself? and since it is such an old turbo where could i find a rebuild kit for it? thanks!!

I think that when you rebuild them you are supposed to precision balance the turbine shaft as turbos spin at hella fast rpms. That requires a special machine and stuff.
