Look at my turbo now!
I got the turbo last week or 2 ago. I decided that it needed a facelift. Looked like this before..........
And then after about 6-7 hours of mostly hand sanding and some polishing tonight, it now looks like this......
What do you think? Not bad for my first time. As you can see the cast on the housing was really rough. I couldnt really sand inbetween the lettering and there was some deep pits I couldnt get into either. I think I did a good job though!
Gonna do my manifold and downpipe too. They /hopefully/ should be here tomorrow.

Well, actually not all hand sanding. I cheated a bit with an air die grinder and some a white roloc disc. But hand sanded after that (5+ hours worth) with 260, 540, 1000, 1500 wet sand paper. Then good ol Home Depot polishing kit ($12) on my cordless drill--using the white stick.
I hope to have on soon as soon as I buy my hondata 3B, which im buying this week, and some RC 550s.
You know I will post pics and let everyone know when its on!

yeah I'm amazed what you can do with a wire wheel - I polished my max rev manifold real quick (5 min) with a wire wheel on the Makita and it looks pretty decent... when I "de-turbo" for smog I'm going to polish everything up.

Looks great! Nice polishing job. I need to learn how to do that
when you "wet sand" do you just add water, or soak the paper in water, or what?

I just did the sanding in my laundry rooms plastic sink. The wetsand keeps the fine paper from loading up with whatever it is your sanding.
Like I said this was my first time polishing. Just take your time. Its not hard at all, just time consuming--and it also helps to have some of the right tools.
