Default 89 grade in rsx?

I tried search and found nothing. would it matter to run 89 grade gas in my rsx-s? I mean with the price of gas now it would help my wallet out a lot instead of the usual 93. the motor is stock.

Your ECU will dial back the timing with 89 or less. You'll lose power and mileage will probably go down.

Read your owners manual.

yep my friend tried it in his rsx-s and got less MPG than running the 93. so you end up spending the same or more.. plus you run the risk of making the knock senor to mess up and then your engine will drive with a knocking sound.

Is taking that chance worth it in the long run?

As long as you use premium gas, you'll be fine.

Ive been using 89 for the last 2 or 3 months and run it hard almost everyday and it runs like a champ with 100k+ miles. After seeing that 89 or less can dial back the timing i think ill just use 93 lol. Hope it can dial back up!

damn cheap *** ****'s! the difference between premium and 89 is like $.10 which is about $1-$1.20 more per full tank.

If you can't afford that, trade in your type S for a base or a civic.

the prices I saw today in my town

3.59 x 11= $39.49

is a couple extra dollars worth how your car will run in the future? i put premium grade in everytime, it's just what you gotta do.
