Default Is this block salvageable ?

I just bought a 2001 prelude off a kid who destroyed the motor a few weeks ago. I tore it all down and heres the damage. The rod destroyed the cylinder, and the piston broke into pieces, actually wedging between the crankshaft and the block rendering the motor unable to crank, lol. The engine must have been starved for oil, the camshafts and bearings had scars and shavings of metal on them. I was curious if this block can be re-sleeved or if its trash ? opinions welcome (sorry pics are big)

take it to a machine shop and have them measure the mains and cylinders. You will know for sure just by the look they give you.

Yeah the block might be resleevable, but you have no idea of what kind of stress that crankshaft put on the block when it seized. If it doesn't cause you problems now, it will later when fatigue sets in. All that it takes to cause a crack is a tiny flaw.

If you are in any doubt, then don't risk the money you'll spend re-rebuilding it.

actually it didnt sieze, the piston got wedged between the crank and the side of the block - either way its pretty terrible... ill be taking it to a machine shop to see what they think. thanks for all the input - also i was wondering if the head is trash as well ? when i took out the cams there was slight scoring on the cams and bearings, and in a few of them were some very tiny metal shavings.

I bet that block is salvagable. I have one layin around that has that same chunk out of the bottom of the cylinder like that and I expect it all to be machined away by the time they sleeve it.
