i have a 94 vx with a b18b gsr trans the speedo will not work at all. Then it will jump all over the place then go back to 0

no check engine?? check your speed sensor on your tranny i had the same problem on my 1994 ex speedo goin everywhere i looked at my speed sensor and it was all burned up!!!

 

its your vehicle speed sensor....like jdmeg said it located on top of the trans ...good luck

 

its going crazy because you have a bad connection somewhere. odds are the prongs in the plug are corroded or rusted.

this happened to me and it just ended up being the plug going into the vss. So if you have washed your engine recently or ever for that matter i would check the plug first before buying a new vss. Because if that is the case the vss plug is probably just in need of a cleaning.

 

well i did get some coolant on it

 

that's probably the problem then try and depin the wires from the plug and clean them you may even have to replace them like i did.

 

If that vss cleaning doesn't help, then it could very well be a dizzy ignitor or coil issue. My tach use to go crazy at random times, then got a "new" reman dizzy and that fixed it...until this past month, now it's doing it again. Burned through a good dizzy in a year's time. ARGH!

 

It may be a broken pin in VSSs plug, it also may be your cluster and VSS itself as well, not mentioning rusty electricity, in my case it was cluster that was f-u

 

worked fine all day then backing into my garage tonight and it was like o-100-50-75-0
idk i will take a look at it this Sunday if i don't get a chance tomorrow

 

this happened the other day to our integra we're building it turned out to be a transmission ground strap small problem
