1995 Accord EX ... the speedo works when its warm inside the car but not when its cold. Like all this week it worked while going to work in the afternoon. But when I get out of work at 3AM it doesn't work for the 16 mile ride back home. It doesn't have a check engine light or anything on. The tach works fine also.
Would this be the VSS or the guage cluster itself??? The VSS is $100 at advance auto and I haven't really looked for a cluster yet. Please help with my issue. Cause I really don't want to buy parts I don't ne

 

Cluster itself, do a search, it's a common problem.

You can either buy a working cluster and swap the IC on the back of the speedo or solder the points back together and go that route.

 

Normally if the VSS is the problem you will get a CEL code.
Your description leads me to think of a bad connection in the cluster or a poor solder joint.
FWIW
The speedo uses a digital to analog converter, to change the VSS digital pulses to an analog signal so it operates the speedo needle smoothly.
