will my 1995 civic operate without a cluster?
i am going to try to fix my speedometer, i was wondering if since my speedo doesnt work i could start the process off by removing my cluster but i probably cannot finish the job tonight. if i need my car in the morning will it work without the cluster or should i just wait till i have more time?

If you have a CEL code for the VSS, the speedometer is probably not the problem.
The car will run without the cluster, but I don't recommend it.

driving with out your cluster sounds like a really bad idea ...
i heard you can fix your speedo by just unpluging and plugging it back in , in some cases

It'll run fine, but good luck if you get pulled over and cop sees no cluster. Btw, I don't believe the turn signals work without it.

oh really? nice i thought it was more time consuming then that. i dont wanna keep it out for long just long enough to re solder the leads because i have heard that it can fix it. ive replaced the vss and it still doesnt work so my next attempt is gonna be this i think. thanks for the quick responses.

Also check speedo sensor on tranny, if your speedo is going whacko-crazy when you drive.
Edit: ^ that's also another 5 minute diagnostic.
