Default Buying used trans. what should i look for?

as title states i am buying a used trans from a friend of a friend lol. its for a B16A2 so im assuming its a S4C? well anyway what do i look for when i buy a trans?? i know for one cracks, but what else? i would HATE to buy a trans that isnt in good shape. any help is great! thanks in advance.

Grab input shaft. Shake it. It should not have any play. Also turn it by hand and feel the smoothness. I cant think of anything else.

Also, shift the transmission into each gear (including reverse). Sometimes, you might have to turn the input shaft a little to get it into a given gear (this is normal). And with the transmission in EACH gear, try spinning the imput shaft. The input shaft should turn smoothly and easily in each gear. And the transmission should not make any noise (other than just the typical sound of gears meshing and shafts turning) when you spin the shaft in ANY gear. Other than doing these things, there is unfortunately no way of really looking for, say, bad synchros.
