soft clutch..bled it....made it softer..
soo i noticed my clutch in my integra got soft...and was going into gear pretty hard...soo this weekend i bled it, i got alot of air out of it, then once i stopped getting air i kept bleeding it about 4 more times then finally stopped...but now the clutch is much more softer and goes into gear really hard...there cant be any air in the line...i pushed about 1 liter of brake fluid threw it...and there arent any signs of the master cylinder or slave cylinder going bad its not leaking or anything....anyone ever run into this problem??
Could you go into detail about how you bled the clutch master cylinder? It is possible as you were pushing fluid out you were letting air back into the system when you pulled up on the pedal.
well i was having my sister "pump" the pedal then hold it to the floor...and she held it to the floor i opened up the bleeder...once fluid stopped coming out (lost pressure) i shut it...then the pedal was stuck to the floor soo i pulled up on it....we did that a couple times....then since i wasnt feeling much of a differance in the pedal....i just opened the bleeder...made sure the end of the clear hose i was using was in the fluid in ghetto "yooo hooo" bottle i was using...then i would pump the pedal about 4 times....refill the resivoir again making sure not to let it go empty..then repeated that several times....then bled it one final time the first way i did it....which i got absoultely no air out of it......made sure there was plenty of brake fluid in the resivoir and put the lid on it.....
Your "ghetto" yoo hooo" bottle is the same way I bleed my clutch master cylinder, so that all sounds correct
Maybe your clutch master cylinder is going bad?
Maybe your clutch master cylinder is going bad?
yeah i am probally gonna go ahead and replace that and the slave cylinder...just to be on the safe side and flush the whole line with fresh fluid again....
well..problem solved...yesterday i went to order the new mastercylinder and slave cylinder...they only had the mastercylinder in stock..soo i got that and just figured i would replace that and see what happend....sure enough that fixed it...the clutch is firm and goes into gear much easyer...i got some pics of the old one...you can sorta see from my super low quality pics it was deffinatly starting to push fluid out....

P.S.- i know i have told some of you awhile ago about an exhaust i am getting for it....that is still coming..still waiting on the tax return for it...i think i am going with the DC SPORTS 4-2-1 two piece headers with the new Greddy T.I.C cat back exhuast....i am just waiting for the tax return and the weather to get alittle warmer since i no longer have a garage to work on the car in

when you bleed your brakes i was always taught not to push the pedal all the way down, but only to how far it travels on normal braking cause if you go to the floor you push the seals though dirt build up where seals dont normally go to and it can rip them

I was gonna tell you to check for the leak where it comes through the floor but you already got it. Yea get the 4-2-1 headers if you have a lowered teg. I made the mistake of looking for top end power and went with the 4-1. Bad idea for a daily driver. The 4-1 header is about 3 or so inches lower and took about a month to get all dented up.
now someone i was talking to was trying to tell me that by replacing the mastercylunder and not the slave cylinder....that due to the higher pressure the master cylinder is now putting out, it is gonna make my slave cylinder blow?...i think thats a bunch of bullsh*t
or is it the truth?
or is it the truth?
sounds like bs to me. I replaced the master cylinder and I'm still using the same slave cylinder and it's been another 30,000 miles since then with no problems. How is it gonna put more pressure on it? Some people are just talking out of their ***. Maybe it's their blinker fluid going low or their exhaust bearings wearing out.
