Default question for ppl who know anything about brakes

Only one of my rear breaks hold when i have my e-brake on...

is there anything that i can check to see why only one is holding? Im kind of a diy person instead of taking it into a shop, so any ideas on what the problem could be would be appreciated

Im guessin your car is 4-wheel disc-...the last time you changed your brakes did you or whoever did it touch or messed with the emergency brake cable that comes to the side that aint grabbing?

yea it has disc brakes and i did have some new brakes installed last year by a shop cause one calliper was sticking. Do you think that they might have forgotten to adjust something?

Yes thats also possible.. you would have to look at the good side and bad side and match it up...

Check to see if you need to tighten up the e brake cables.. You can do it by removing your console or on the rear caliper..

How do you know only one of your breaks works/holds...? If you already know which side doesn't work then check the cable (from the handbrake to the brake).

To check it, simply have someone pull the E-brake while you inspect the E-brake cable. Make sure they are "tightening" up when the e-brake is pulled.

I believe you're supposed to lift up the console and tighten the cable. I think I saw an article some where on team-integra a while ago...

I've tightened the cables from the console in the car already, but that didnt help.

I know this because I took off my left rear tire a few days ago and in the process I forgot to loosen the lugs before the tire was off the ground... i had my e-brake on at the time but the wheel spun freely when i tried to take the lugs off.

Anyway, im going to check the cable from the console to the actual brake today and see what i can find.

I have the same problem. I am assuming the cable is loose or something snapped but I have not had the time to fix it. Make sure you let us know what it was after you fix it. I noticed only one side of mine works because on a hill, after i put the ebrake and let go of the brake pedal, the left rear pops up a little because it wants to roll back. So yea let us know.
