Ignition questions for 500+hp
Hey all this is the last thing i need some information on for my setup. Ignition. I wanted to know what you 500 plus hp guys are using. I have seen some people running stock but i would prefer to have something that will provide a more reliable spark in the higher boost/ revolution area (20+lbs and up to 9k)
thanks for the input in advance i appreciate the help
Also how cold of a plug are you guys using in the 500 to 650 hp range?

yeah i was reading through related threads and the M+ w Pro 10 i think was the one that i was considering but i am shootin anywhere from 500-650whp. i just want it to be on safe side
yeah it seems that msd can be hit or miss depending on msd you are running. I've has few friends run the 6a and 6al and have had nothing but problems. Boostedcivicsir, what msd setup are you currently running

Thats kinda a overkill dont you think for only 500-650WHP. Any ignition system will work for that much power. I've had my MSD 7AL2 for more than 10 years and no problems.

if you are shooting for 500-600, stock ignition will be fine. I have tuned alot of cars past 650 with stock igntion. Stock honda wire, stock distributor.
Yeah, you are right, its a lil overkill, but still will work optimally. I mean, if this is the last piece to the puzzle, than i would go this route and get it done right the first time. I have had issues with MSD too. It would work fine for awhile, and then the coil goes bad. And this has happened on a few cars all ready, even on a few all motor cars too. Ever since i used the coil on plug, i never had to worry about ignition problems again. Spend a few extra dollars and call it a day ! plus, cant go wrong with the proven parts from T1 race development and great customer service that they provide.
well idk if if the stock ignition will be fine i rather spend my money on different parts of the car then. I guess I just go with a new honda dizzy and new wires
