BIG problem, need HELP!!!

Default BIG problem, need HELP!!!

ok, so last night i took my head off to change my cam seals and head gasket, everythings going smooth as butter until it comes time to torque the head back down. One of my ARP head studs stripped and now im seriously expletiveed I'm getting ready to try and helicoil the sucker but am not to sure about that, any suggestions, advice, help please!!

the only thing you can really do is buy another set of arp head studs or use the old studs, if you dont have them then call a auto part store and see if they have them. nothing else will work because a engine gets real hot and oily, helicon might just melt and cause leaks

my bad, the stud itself didnt strip, the actual thread on the block where it goes into stripped

your could try to helicoil it, best bet would be to get the holes bored oversized then tapped for oversized studs.

how far did you screw the stud into the block. if not far and you can get it out. good chance you can just run a tap through it and salvage the hole

i did pull it out and i have a helicoil kit already. Im just a bit uneasy about doing the helicoil but im doing it tomorrow after work. As for oversizing the headstuds, i'm not to giddy about running half inch studs so thatll be a back up plan incase the helicoil falls thru i guess

should i use 2 helicoils for the one stripped headstud or just one?? If i should use 2 has anyone here ever done that? is it hard?

helicoiled it, slapped the head on, worked like a charm, thanks for all input
