HELP! ARP Problem with Time-sert
Ok real quick break down...I bought an ls bottom end for an ls vtec turbo build. The head stud ports were stripped so I had Time-serts installed...So now im building my motor and one of the ARP studs i'm installing gets kinda binded into the block..I backed the ARP head stud out...and it pulled the time-sert out!! Is this normal? It doesnt look like anything holds the time-sert into the block..just threaded in i guess.. I had the time serts done before I had the block hot tanked, so its possible a little bit of rust caused the bind, and when I backed the stud out, it pulled the time sert out with it...So im soaking the arp stud with time sert attached to it in WD-40 right now hoping that it will loosen it up..then I guess I will just thread the whole peice back into the block hoping the time sert will bottom out and then the ARP head stud will continue to thread in until it bottoms out....Sound good?? please any feed back, or any info would help..I dont want to put it all together and have a head gasket blow or something...Thank you for the help.

Re: HELP! ARP Problem with Time-sert
I know old post, but to those reading this the time sert wasn't seated all the way. It's like they started threading the insert, got snug and backed out.
The driver is supposed to loosen up after the insert is snug and that's when you know it's seated properly.
or this guy is completely getting his stuff wrong and instead is talking about heli-coils, which are bad for head studs.
