Default help vtec/rpm problems

I have a 95 honda accord vtec and my rpms rev to 5500 and stop. Its not throwing any codes at all and we just changed the oil, oil filter, put all new plugs, an intake, and a breather on it. and it still stops at 5500. in addition to this my vtec doesnt kick in. Someone help me out on what to do.

One possibility is that the VTEC cylinder in the head needs to be overhauled..

or is it possible the its not vtec?
The 95 motors did not have vtec..unless you dropped another engine in it.

wow...just stop giving advice and quit while you're way behind. As for not throwing any codes, are you sure the check engine light bulb still works. being that is a 95 its possible that it could have burned out. Other than that my only suggestions are check your oil level, and make sure you did not unplug any sensors, and that they are all plugged into the proper locations.

5th gen ex's had vtec. lx had non vtec.

anyway, i'm not sure where it is, but find the vtec solenoid and pull it out. there should be a screen or something. clean it out and reinstall it.
