both of these pages have great and detailed info.. although they are both for crvtec.... you should be able to find something useful....

i found the link that said the b20 had a knock sensor.
Okay, all high comression motors w/ 9.6:1 compression pistons have a factory knock sensor. They need the knock sensor to safely run 87 octane gas. I question the cam profiles and I have no idea why honda rased the redline?.
11th line down.

I have a B20z from a 2000 crv 5spd. It has a brown plug sq knock and I took off the IM because I didnt think it would fit under the civic hood. Im running a 94 teg IM and ECU. Can I a differnt IM for more power or is this fine. And can I wir that knock to an obd1 tec ecu and have it function so I can be cheap and run 87. what octain is safest if not. </U>
Its fine.... the obd-1 teg ecu doesnt even look for the knock sensor... and running a p75 intake manafold vs the PHK manafold really isnt much of a performance difference.
I see no harm running a 9.6:1 compression motor with an LS ecu on 87 octane..
