hello everyone, i have a 00 ek w/d16y7 auto, recently ran into the weirdest problem yet, last night after i engaged tranny back into park, turned off ignition, but turned it on again after a few secs it won't seem to start, (doesn't even try, no crank noise or anything), battery is good, electronics work. i have noticed something though, the "D" light in the cluster (below P, R, N...) comes on for two secs and turns off again when i turn the key to 'ON' position, it seems to me that the car thinks its in Drive when it should be in Park so it doesn't even try to start the car, im stumped, anything else i can try, this is my daily driver

oh and i've also reset the ecu by removing the fuse,
any help would be appreciated!!

 

does the started get power? does the fuel pump prime?

 

i left the key in the ON position for even a minute once to help prime the gas pump but no luck, even without gas the motor should make some cranking noise though, but none, and i've got plenty of gas and all belts are good, starter is good, and fuses are all good :S

 

did you check you ignition switch to see if it is putting out power? check all your grounds

 

my lights dim when i try to start, so im guessing its not the ignition switch because its getting power?

 

they dim because power is taken from the battery to turn the starter.... sounds like the starter is getting no power.. i dont think alternator is in the mix.
