Default Does this sound reasonable??

My local shop quoted me $5200 for a 98 spec JDM b18 ITR with tax and $900 for installation. This is for a EG, i think its a little pricey, no?

Would the actually labor needed for this swap be worth $900? or could he save the money and do it himself?

Well, I charge my friends and **** $400 to do a motor swap and I am by no means an SAE mechanic. So $900 sounds almost like a deal. The question you should be asking is, does this guy have the experience needed to successfully complete a swap? Probably not, which probably why he took it to a shop.

OP:Anything Type-R is going to be at least over 4 grand. If your on a budget or something, get a GSR and you'll be satisfied. Type-R's are cool and all, but certainly not worth the price tag. If you're really serious about having a kick *** motor for your car, then just do hundreds of hours of research and build yourself something way better than a Type-R for not much more than the cost of one. Good luck though.

Type r is definately the best NA motor for the money. k series is a joke on the wallet. if i were to reswap and stay NA id definately go with the type r... way over gsr anyday.

If you're going to try and contradict everything I just said, then I must do the same.

If you think that a K-series is a joke on your wallet, then look at the price tag on the Type-R. I'm pretty sure that if you can pull $4500+ outta your ***, then another grand won't be that big of a deal. ****, for a flat torque curve and six gears, I'd throw in another grand.

How much better is a Type-R over a GSR? About 20 horses and 5 feet pounds of torque. Is that really worth $1500 when you don't have a lot of money? Besides, I mentioned that for if the OP is on a budget.

Next, if you really think that the Type-R is the best NA motor there is, then you must not get out much. Right now, I'm looking into an NA build that will give me around 250 horses to the wheels. I mean, don't get me wrong. The Type-R is one of the best NA motors you can BUY. <U>BUY!!!</U> When I mentioned that I was telling the OP to research and build something better for around the same price.

Do you read every word, or just skim through ****?

Be careful what you post because people will tend to think it's fact.

BTW: On a side note, you need to fix your sig there sleeper. I think you're missing a like in there somewhere. Makes you look even more like a fool.
