Default not sure where to put this thread, but how can i clean my y8 head???

hey guys i dont know where to put this thread so i figured under tech/misc .. um im doing a mini me swap this weekend and i bought a head off my buddies 96-00 ex its the d16y8.. neways its got alil brownish yellow look to it and i wann make it clean like my y7 that had 40k on it the y8 ithink he said about 100k a lil more miles but still ran good. i was told a bunch of stuf to try on it but i was unsure if i had to take out the cam and retainers and all that stuff? of can i just leave it all in their and take off the vavle cover and cam gear and dizzy and intake mnaifold and vtec solenoid and have my buddy put it in his parts washer? to try and degrease it and stuff? or do i have to take everyhting out and cut it to get this done? the heads been sitting for like a couple weeks but has lil oil and no coolant in it... what can i do can anyone please help me??? thanks in advanced honda tech members

best thing to do is have it surfaced at a machine shop. they'll automatically clean it for you via jet wash or hot tank.

should cost around 55 bucks.

leave everything in the head, clean throughly, blow dry with compressed air and i like to throw some penetrating oil on the valve springs and stuff that aint aluminum so it doesnt collect surface rust.

When you say penetrating oil, is this just any motor oil or something else?

Forgive my ignorance pls.
