Default LS/VTEC problems

98 integ ls / 97 gsr head

ls throttle body - for now
skunk2 IM
crower internals
type r oil pump
gsr waterpump/timing belt
new gaskets

engine starts but runs crappy, the problem is that... if i don't give it gas, it'll stall. anyone know why? some people say that it might be a bad head and that i need to do a leak down test, maybe? but i took the cylinder head to a local shop to get it inspected/clean before the install, they said it was good. so i dunno... any ideas?
