Default 98 Type R...Maintanence Required Light

My maintanence required light just started flashing about a week ago only when I start the car though. I bought my type r used with 83k on it and now its got almost 88k. Does the light come on every 7k for a tune up reminder? It only comes on when I first start the car and flashe like 5 times. Anyone know what it is? Thanks!

Not to be mean but I just typed the word "Maintenance" in the search tool and set the Data Set to Archived and I was able to find a buttload of topics regarding this. I'm sure you'll find your answers there. Good luck

below your stearing wheel to the right is a little box with a blue button on it...............hold that button down to reset the maintenance log........the light will go away

its just a KM counter.......nothing to be worried about.....your supposed to reset it every time maintenance is done

Not to be mean.... but in brownman's defense, the search feature on this BB is useless. It just never works. Well, that is unless you type in slipstream.

The Maint Required light comes on every 7500 miles I believe according to the owners manual. It blinks everytime you turn on the car for somewhere around 500 miles, then if you haven't reset it by then it stays on as more of a "serious" reminder.
I have a stupid question, do you pres the reset button while the car is running or just in the "ON" position? Do you hold the button down untill the light goes off or does one quick push take care of it? The reason why I ask is because I cannot get the Maint Reqd light off no maater when/how I press the button.

Topic titles that say "huh???" and the thread is about how to relpace a clutch doesnt help either.

You have to press the button and hold it in for a moment while it is blinking, immediately after you turn on the ignition.
Hell, it's probably in the owners manual somewhere. That's where I located this info prior to seeing Yoshi'd artistic pic. ed

Chris, nice avatar.
Don't see that much anymore.
