i just hit 8300 mi. and my maint light is up. weird. seems like ep owners are encountering this out of nowhere.
f1nal zero, answered in a thread.
"Ok guys here is the trick. You do have to hold down the odometer button, but the thing that most people forget to do is hold it down. Hold the odometer button down for about 5 seconds then turn the car on while still holding the odometer button down. Your check engine light will flash a few times then disappear."
did it and researched. and still left clueless, it is still on. flashes for about 5 secs and goes out. sorry to bring this thread up, but i need some assistance. much appreciated.

This is what you do bro, the trick works for the type S, base, and Civic Si.
1. Insert key
2. Hold the odometer button down and keep pressed.
3. Turn key forard, but do not start it, while still holding the odometer button down.
4. Start the car, while still holding down the odometer button.
5. Maintanence required light will flash a few times then go off for good.

Basically correct, but it is not necessary to start the engine. If all else fails, you could always read your owners manual. The proceedure is detailed in there.

but... all else failed, just forgot to use my head due to procrastination
. on p. 61 on ur owners manual, it will point out the solution to the affirmed problem. you don't necessarily have to start ur car. thanx again h-t

Well, if you need to go some where starting your car would be a plus
