Just wanted to know what fuel upgrades are necessary if any to run the 75 shot zex wet kit. I plan on changing the fuel filter, and have ignition covered, just want to know what is necessary for fuel system.
Thankyou
Thankyou
Well, I say the 1st upgrade should be a better Nitrous kit......
With a 75 shot wet, you won't need any fuel upgrades, but ^^^ colder plugs should be on your list. At least one step colder and maybe 2 step colder for dedicated Drag Racing events. My personal opinion is NOT to even spray before you get on a Dyno. Its just safer. As much as the Nitrous companies try to send you balanced jets, it doesn't always happen. I was lucky to have perfect Air/Fuel with the 75 and 100 shot. Most people aren't so lucky. I'd hate to see you spray a 75 shot on the street with 93 octane and no timing retard and have it detonate.
This was my stock motor with an 80 shot and BAD plugs from detonation caused by a lean mixture due to hitting fuel cutoff with the stock ECU!
Cheers!

I already have those upgrades, I just wanted to know about the fuel upgrades and what was necessary.
My setup
2000 prelude base
I/H/E/
Tuned VAFC (Running Rich while on Nitrous for Safety)
ACT clutch and lightened flywheel
MSD SCI Ignition w/ blaster 2 and wires
Zex Spark Plugs
Zex Wet kit currently running 55 shot about 6 bottles in a couple years no problem
Dynotune bottle heater
Ran compression test and had 3 angle valve job before installing zex kit.
dynotuned about 6 months ago with vafc to be running rich on nitrous wot. Running about 11 a/f ratio on the nitrous.
Figured it should still be running rich w/ the 75 shot, and I will be checking the plugs just to make sure. The dyno place here is garbage and they do crappy work so I don't want to trust them again. I am also replacing the plugs, and wires, as well as the fuel filter. If you say the fuel system is good enough to handle the 75 shot, I will just get a gauge to make sure its up to par. If the fpr is unnecessary I'll just get the pump for more assurance. I have had no problems with the zex kit, I think it seems very safe, and there shots are at the crank, not the wheel so its really like a 65 shot of nx. Let me know if there is anything I am missing, I hear you are the man when it comes to nitrous around here.
What I'm doing
want to increase to the 75 shot with the zex kit
got msd 8982 start/retard controller to retard timing 3 deg while on the juice
got msd 8969 digital rpm window switch to keep traction and cut of juice before the rev limiter
Wondering what the opinions are about how safe this will be and any other suggestions I should use to increase my odds of success. This is a daily driver and my baby, I just want more power safely.
If I had the extra money I would upgrade the fuel system, but from what I hear that is not necessary with the ludes until 100 shot.
Will probobly get a fuel safety switch and new high flow fuel pump as well as FPR to beef up my fuel system.
Thanks in Advance

also only 91 octane hear, I will probably use a booster at every fill up just to get it up a point or so.
This post seems familiar to me.....was this posted before?
Skip the OCTANE BOOSTER its worthless. Start looking into TOLUENE to boost Octane. Its 114-117 octane and can be found at local paint stores. I have run it many many times before to get closer to 95 octane with a 75 shot and no timing retard. Timing retard is nice, but youre sacrificing power as a result. With -4* timing and a 100 shot, it only made 71whp/80tq over N/A. This was conservative though......With race fuel and 0 timing I would have easily made 280-290+
Let me know if I can help......I know some things about Nitrous and FUN use, but by no means do I knw everything. Its amazing how much you learn after you blow a motor.....although I don't suggest it!
This was the product of a couple of years playing with happy Gas and 1 blown motor!

Thanks, and yes this was posted elsewhere, I didn't feel like rewriting everything to show my setup, thats why I just asked about the fuel. From what I gather the only missing link I have left to keep my setup safe is the fuel pump. I also wanted to know how I can test and make sure the retard box is working properly and retarding the timing and how to know the rpm window is working right too.
Thanks

This is a daily driver, so sacrificing a little power for safety isn't going to kill me. I made 45hp to the wheels with the 55 shot. 60 to the wheels with a 75 shot is fine by me. This is a daily driver so I want it as safe as possible. I think my setup is pretty solid, I'm sure it could be bettee ie. engine management, but this is what I've got and I'm putting it in myself.
Thanks, anything else you think is necessary please let me know.

I haven't used the window switch so I can't tell you. Im not too fond of the idea. If it fails when youre relying on it BOOM! Your engine looks like mine!
With the retard box, Im sure theres a way you can trip it with a timing light on it to see it. I never tried it. I didn't detonate with the 100 shot and 1 step colder plugs on 93 oct so I assume it worked. I used the MSD dig6

I dont know who you went to for tuning, buit revolutions down there is awesome!!! they have tuned tons of wicked fast and reliable subarus, including 2 of the top 3 fastest sti's at this altitude!! If you have any doubts about their tuners, get ahold of Servion (serviontuning.com) I think, he is based in the springs, and does greatttt tunes on H22's and works from revolutions usually.

Didn't have a bad experience with their tuning (not much they needed to do with a Vfac). I don't doubt their ability to tune either. I had a bad experience 2x with them in their fabrication. Both times the items installed did not work due to mistakes in installation. I could tell the whole long story but I doubt anyone wants to hear it. Anyway after those experiences and their terrible customer service and attitudes, I decided if I want something done right, I will learn to do it myself. I just can't trust someone else to do things on my car or I will have no way of knowing what was actually done. I'm glad because I'm learning a lot, and that most of this stuff I can do myself anyway with a sense of pride for doing it.
