Default I shift too fast?

I was driving my Dad's employee's Accord around just to see how she felt because the guy just wanted me to see for some crazy reason. Anyways, I was driving around.. and he's starts saying that I shift "really really really really fast". It was just normal 'quick' driving without a touch to WOT.

Anyways, I was actually wondering if it is possible to shift too fast. Like I guess shifting too quick so you don't really fall into a good torque range or something.

Basically, I don't know if the guy was complimenting me or putting me down. Do I shift too fast?

maybe you weren't allowing the engine enough time to drop rpms and stepping on the gas too quick.

The problem here is that your buddy drives like an old woman.

Its possible to shift too fast with your hands but not work the clutch fast enough with your feet. Then you have grinds. Don't flatter yourself, this guy prob drives like a granny.

The Accord tranny synchros aren't designed for really fast shifting. There is a limit on fast the car can get into gear... this isn't limited to just Accords, but the majority of Honda trannies...

It got into gear, and no grinds.
I was driving rather casually. He probably does drive like a granny. But he talks so much trash until it starts getting annoying - saying his Accord can eat my Integra up. However I just laugh it off and don't go down to his level where I actually would race him.

I hate it when people that just started driving manual shifts liek they're racing even in normal traffic at 3000rpms

haha... yea... like they're trying to show they can shift fast (even though they really cant)... except they show it everytime they shift!

Most Accords and D series trannys share the same synchros.

To me, shifting smooth is a whole lot better than shifting fast. If I wanted to shift fast, I would have gotten an automatic.
