Default having driver side axle seal problems. LS hydro tanny

my transmission is leaking from the driver side axle seal. i noticed that there is a lip where the seal rides on the intermediate shaft and i have been trying to align the seal with the lip. i have repositioned the seal at least 3 different times now and have replaced the seal once.

if that sounded too confusing heres some pictures:

here is the lip that im talking about on the intermediate shaft

the inside diameter of the seal has a V shaped lip that i think runs on the axle's lip

heres how it looks with the shaft inside the transmission

any thoughts at all would be great fellas

im lost here, i replaced the seal and put some lucas stop leak/ transmission fix in it. and shes still leakin. i never knew that the seal had to be seated in a certain postion, but apparently it does...

like i said ive tried 3 different depth at which the seal sits in the bore and every time it's leaked. and i replaced the seal the first time...

All I can say is that when I did the seals on my Y21 I put them in as deep as they could go and they don't leak a drop.

From what vehicle/year is your intermediate shaft from?

looks like an aftermarket seal, and they could have given you the 90-93 teg seal which is 5mm bigger ID and will leak like you describe

The seal should be set deeper. Flush with the case is about right.

get a seal from HONDA, not that POS.
