Default jdm ecu for usdm engine, help.

I was just wondering if anybody knows or have tried it. If I use a jdm ECU on a USDM engine would that make the USDM engine run like a JDM engine? will the JDM ECU's work for USDM engines "hondas."

thanks.

There are physical differences between the US and JDM versions of most of Honda's engines, what engine specifically are you talking about?

JDM motors usually have .2 more compression depending on the motor.
The ecus also have different fuel/timing maps then US ecus.

Running a JDM ecu on your USDM vehicle is not going to make your setup make more power.

^ strange is because most of the jdm engines for sale does not come with the ECU. I noticed that most jdm ECU's are tuned to run on higher octane as well as better fuel and timing. So the thing is that if I was to use a usdm ECU with the jdm engine wouldnt that make no difference except its got higher compression. I dont get it because higher compression engines run on higher octane but most of the usdm ECU's are not tuned to run on high octane so wouldnt I be killing my engine if I was running a jdm engine on low octane? How does this whole thing work?

thanks.

will it work? - yes
will it create more power? - unlikely
will it cause problems? - maybe but unlikely

OBD1 and tuning is the best way to go.

thats all true but I was trying to see if there was an easier way, lol. I mean theorically it should make some improvements because most jdm ECU's are tuned to run on high octane as well as improved fuel and timing. Compared to where ECU tuning is an option but arent the result the same? I mean all were really doing is upgrading our US ECU's just so that it can run the same as a jdm ECU. I was really thinking about trying it but I cant seem to get my hands on one yet because most jdm engines dont come with the ECU. What I wanted to know was has anyone proven the jdm ECU with US engines yet?

thanks.
