1991 Civic transmission seal leaks Help!!!!
I recently replaced the differential bearing on the passenger side of the transmission. I went ahead and replaced the seals where the axels plug in. The seal on the passanger side will not stop leaking until the oil gets below the axel line. I replace the axel this weekend thinking the surface on the axel was worn and again replaced the seal. I used a hammer and seal insertion tool and installed the seal until it would not go any further. Does the seal need to be seated all the way back to the shim (C clip)? If so, the differential spline is even with the seal. What am I doing wrong? This is an L3 5 speed manual transmission

Well just putting this out there but are you sure you are engaging the axle all the way? The seal should have a lip on it to limit how deep it goes in. The lip of the seal should not be touching the splines and should just ride on the flat machined part of the axle. Also are you lubricating the rubber on the seal with transmission fluid before you put the axle in?
