WTF am I doing wrong?!? (Axle seals.)
Okay, this is the 2nd time I've put axle seals in... The first time I did it was when I put new axles in... I pushed the seals in too far adn they hit the differential carrier or something... They didn't get TOO chewed up, but the outside lip didn't touch the big housing that goes around the inner CV joint.
This time I put them in and left about 1mm of seal sticking out of the tranny, so that the little lip seal would mate against it's groove in the housing for the inner CV joint... And it's still freaking leaking...
I have a seal driver and tapped them in with a hammer gently, and straightly...
Although they are leaking slower now, so it might not even be them... It might be the case seam seal that's fucked... And if that's the problem, screw it. I am not rebuilding this tranny.
