Ok I have a 95' Acura Integra LS Special Edition....would like to know which would be the better tranny the LS,GSR, or Si.....track and highway runs. I now have a Y80 tranny!!!
and YES I do plan on boosting it AFTER building the motor!!!

The b16 tranny is the best out of the 3 because it has the shortest gearing (it's exactly like the ITR tranny but without the LSD that the ITR has). Of course, then the top speed is lower and your RPMs will be pretty high on the freeway, so you can swap in an LS fifth gear for the best of both worlds.
honestly the gearing for the b16 is wayy too agressive for the ls low rpms...
I had a type r tranny on my ls and then b20 engine.... it was a lot of fun but honestly in the long run ull be better off with a gsr tranny... get one with lsd if u can afford it they cost around 900$.
Honestly u will enjoy the b16 tranny cause u think your car will have gotten super fast... but then when u get passed up by an ls with gsr tranny and minor mods u wont be as happy...
if u drive on the freeway a lot u wont like the small gear ratios either... unless u swap out the 5th gear.....
the ls engine DOES NOT like to be in high rpms often... the rod ratio is absolutely aweful and puts a lot of stress on the sides of the cylinder walls when pushing up. the b16 and itr have almost perfect ratios which put almost no presure on the walls allowing them to rev higher and last longer.... the gsr has a good ratio but not as good as the itr or b16.
simply put... unless ur gona ls vtec or do something thats gona push your powerband up into higher rpms the itr or b16 tranny is not a good idea and you should stick to the gsr tranny....
but it all depends on your goals and your ability to be real with yourself and not drool over reaching the redline almost instantly but getting very little speed in the exhange.... to give u an idea of how small the b16 itr 5th gear is... its smaller than the LS 4th gear. so drive around with your 4th gear and picture the rpms a little higher than where they are and thats what your 5th gear will be like...
1st and 2nd gear are the same on all the tranies... just different final drive ratios.
3rd - 5th /lsd/final drive ratios is what makes them differnet.

Alright Hatch_R you say that the Si tranny is best because it revs better and I'll get to the point I want quicker which yes is good but mostly only for track. Now if I'm wrong correct me but wouldn't the Si tranny be my down fall on the Highway, and what's the lowest gear I'll probably be able to get into at about a 60-70 freeway roll?
Another thing I have a SE and my tranny is a Y-80 are the Y-80's the GSR tranny or not I've heard different stories?

pretty sure its a ls tranny http://www.ff-squad.com/tech/temp/Bgears.htm
Also, a b16/si tranny is probably your best bet, you might be able to drop it down to 3rd at 60 I cant remember it was a long time ago when I had the setup.

a b16/itr tranny has shorter gears from 2-5.
all B series 1st gear is the same though

^Don't forget about the difference in final drives. Even between GSR 1st and LS 1st gears there is a slight difference because of the final drive. And yes, the Si tranny will be quicker in acceleration but will have a lower top speed. Check this out... http://www.fatboyraceworks.com/gears/ At 60mph you'll be able to drop it into 3rd.
well all of you guys have been helpful and yeah I actually have thought about swaping either my 3rd or 4th...or maybe even both with the b16/si but wouldn't that lower my topend?? All I know is that my 2nd gear pulls like a mother and 3rd isn't that bad either!!!
Also I'm going for a built LS-T that's why I'm asking for tranny info to find out who's actually ran that setup and what were the results of it???

I don't agree with this for 2 reasons.
1. Give me an unlimited budget and a car could be designed to perform with the ls transmission gear ratios.
2. For people on a budget they could build a car that is fun without having to swap the tranny. money could be put into other places to make the car fun to drive, not necessairly the fastest in the world.
It is one variable out of thousands someone needs to think about when building a car. If your going to keep the ls tranny then you will need to build the engine torque curve around your gear ratios so it can perform better than it did stock. If you are going to swap it out, go for that also. The longer gears can be beniffical on a road course, shifting takes time.

That same setup built around the LS transmission would be seriously woken up if a GSR or B16 transmission were swapped in. Longer gears will be a disadvantage for most people. I highly doubt many of us get on a road course where we can wind it out to 150 on the straights. Shorter gears will always accelerate faster because you will get through the powerband faster. The only time that is a disadvantage is if you are trapping fast enough that you are shifting into 5th before the finish.

I didn't say anything about top speed... You're not understaning what i'm saying, youre just set on telling me things you have heard other people say. Some driving is about momentum and not acceleration, in which case the ls transmision may be benificial. I'm not saying that it is better, just trying to point out maybe something positive about it. Gear ratios are changed on race cars for every track, there may be one track out there in the world that the ls tranny is geared idealy for.

I have experience with all three transmissions. The shorter geared always accelerated faster. Faster accelerate means faster trap speeds at a drag strip and quicker exits out of corners on the track.
I have yet to see evidence to prove your point since you have so much "experience", whatever your point was...

If you swap in a different final drive it will then affect your overall top speed
