Which of these 2 trannies will help on my setup, Ls tranny took a dump =(
Well after the track my axles gave up. I thought my tranny was still ok, till i drained the fluid and lil metal pieces came out . THis was a ls tranny
IN search of a new tranny .....decision is between b16 or gsr tranny...which one will work best with my setup.
ls vtec (b16 head)
83mm
sc61 turbo
adjustable struts
coilovers
I am guessing that is all needed for the help

Personally I perfer the GSR trans over the B16/ITR trans on my car. The B16 gears are just too dang short for my liking when you using a boosted engine to turn it.

It depends what you kind of gearing you want. When you had your LS tranny, how did you like the gearing? It is too long, too short, or just right? Another thing is, what is your redline? If you have more redline, you can carry more speed in each gear.
Anything other than a LS tranny will have shorter gearing. The shortest being B16 tranny (or ITR tranny w/ LSD), then GSR tranny, then your LS tranny. Just remember what ever tranny you get, make sure you get an LSD as well

Gearing was to long. I seen my friend w/ a crx turbo b18b w/ a gsr tranny racing. It seem like he had to shift very quickly. I probably thought so ,since I was use to a Ls tranny. My redline is 8300..one day I like to have quaife.

are you boosted? I heard a b16 is quick gearing and with boost....you probably wouldnt have gears 1-3 (just thinking). Traction a problem with it?

I would say a shorter gear tranny is better than a long gear. I think the long gear theory tranny is bogus. GSR's may be hard to come by and expensive. Get what you can afford.

yes...i'm boosted. been boosted for about 3000 miles now. lets just say i rarely see my 1st gear.
3rd and 4th are my favorite gears when in boost though. when i was N/A 2nd and 3rd were my favorite.

GSR trans is terrific for a street turbo honda. GF runs a GSR tranny on her very mild LS/VTEC setup making around 300 WHP on pump gas, and the GSR trans feels perfect.
