Default Sputtering After Hitting vtec?

the car i have is a 93 EJ2 with a jdm gsr swap in it. I was having this problem that timing kept jumping teeth after engaging vtec due to flywheel bolts that were loose. so i tightened the flywheel, reset timing, put a brand new distributer on it and still have the same problem. the ecu im running is a p72 chipped but i tried another ecu and still have the same issues. I'm wondering what it could be caused by. TIA

By having the same issues do you mean it is still jumping teeth? Or just the VTEC issue? Any CEL when it starts to happen?

after hitting vtec, going through the gears normally it sputters hard like its missing. its not jumping teeth anymore but its still stuttering. there are no CEL's that pop up thats what is stumping me

Have you jumpered the service connector to look if you had codes before? Even if they dont know up now the ECU stores them. I would check them and then if there are any in there take a look at what caused them.

well i used two ecu's a p72 socketed and a p28 socketed. i forgot to mention when it jumped timing the first time i switched out heads thinking it might of bent valves. the head is another gsr head but i did re-use the cams from the old head that was doing the same thing. possibly the cams?

yeah its a brand new distributer from distributer king so right now the only thing left from the old head is the actual cams. is it possible that the cams are cuasing is to stay in hi lobe because after it starts to sputter, it only runs funny under 4000 rpms. it feels like vtec never shut off bc the power above 4k to redline feels the same just low end it sputters
