vtec problem

Ok i just bought a 95 integra with a gsr swap it has a chipped ecu but not tuned.whenever you get on it vtec is kicking in at like 4200 which should be 5200. but when i do hit vtec the rpms go all crazy and jumps from 4 to 8 or 9. what could cause that? its like vtec is not kickin in like it should could it be the chipped ecu?

 

your chipped ecu will cause vtec not to engage at the stock point. You need to be more descriptive like what is the "rpms going all crazy" is vtec not crossing over at the right point for you? is the engine not running right in higher rpms?

 

its like when it hits vtec it wont take off it has to build up. and the rpms jump around.

Check cap, rotor, plugs, wires, fuel filter, vtec solinoid screen, oil level, and make sure your timing is set right.
