Default transmission question

does anyone know if a 92-95 d series tranny will fit on a 98 d16y5? the hx trannys are **** and mine needs to be replaced so i would just rather get a z6 or something that will fit. but i think the tranny case code is s20. any info would help thanks guys

I'm 99% sure it will. But if anything I'd get a D16Y8 tranny instead. lil newer, and something about the shift fork is better?

the reason he's swapping is because he wants an upgrade to his current trans. Not a cx downgrade.

z6 or y8, doesn't matter.
