d16z6 swap into EK. can i use y8 distributor?
I have a step down harness and a p28 ecu running the y8. I pulled the wornout y8 and swaped it for a low milage z6. will the y8 distributor work on a z6 motor? The car does not start. thanks in advance.
the y8 dizzy will work fine the internals are all the same, only the plugs are different....your still using your stock harness right?

wrong.
correct: z6/z1 dists have a different bolt pattern...you need a conversion harness or to repin the plug

I have to "step down" to a Z6 if thats stepping down at all. They have a 2hp/1tq difference so they are basically the same. I blew up my Y8 motor and I am going to be shoving the Z6 motor into the car in place of the Y8. I have asked this seven million times with no answers yet; will the engine have any problem bolting up to all of the Y8 equipment or is there some modding needed? I will be using the Y8 head on the Z6 block to up the compression ratio. Reason I ask is the person thats installing the motor for me said that there is some kind of sensor near the crankshaft that, once installed, the motor will not operate or start up. I need to know if this is true.
Thank you
Thank you

yeah the d15z1 and the d16z6 used the same head casting...do you have all 3 bolts lined up on your dist? cause only 1 will line up. unless you redrilled the holes...unless youre running a completely different dist. b7/b8/y5/y7/y8 dists have the same bolt pattern
