Default help me diagnose my cold start problem

Well anyway this is the second cold spell that has hit iowa and my lude is having troubles starting when the engine is cold. when I say cold I mean it has had plenty of time to cool since last driving it. When I go to start it it'll fire but won't idle. It'll take about 8-10 tries before I can get it to sputter then I give it gas (in neutral) until it'll hold its own idle. After this the car runs fine with no problems.

Another thing I noticed was last night I went to start it at about 10pm to run to the store and it did the same thing but my lights would dim when I'm cranking the motor.

I thinking it's electrical, maybe my ground, but I have no clue.

Also my car has california emissions would that be a factor. (this is what the previous owner said, what ever it means? lol) Also this is not the original motor in the car. I swapped in an h23a3.

Let me know what you think

Light dimming when cranking the car over is Normal, I learned to turn all lights off prior to starting, owner prefrence.

Mabey its time for a new battery? Where do you get your gas from? Is it the shady gas station on the coner that throughs waterin with gas or a trust worthy gas station.

The gas I get is from shell. It's the only place I go. I was thinking that it could be the battery. I recently replaced the battery ends. I take a look at it here and let you guys know. Do you think it could be the IACV?

It's right under my cai, but I don't think that was it. I fixed the broken sensor and I ran it with it plugged in and it ran fine. Then unplugged it and the rpms would drop slowly to about 600rpms.
