initial diagnosis is i stripped the top threads of one of my aebs headstuds. can i use an arp for just that one stud because i have a spare set.
I really don't see a reason why you couldn't, they both hold more than stock, I would just make sure they are the same dimension wise (the length and thread pitch should be the same) and torque it to arp spec. If you still feel unsure I'd say screw it and just throw the full set of arps in.
I would not use different studs as the expansion rate is not going to be the same. But that's just me. It would probably be fine to use the ARP. Better than a stock bolt.
ARP sells single studs, BTW. AEBS might also.

the block isnt stripped, but the threads on the TOP of the headstud where the nut goes on are stripped. not even stripped bad either, but still in all i cant get it to the appropriate tq spec
use a dye and cut some new threads. make sure you get the right specs. It shouldnt be a problem if they are not that bad. Thats what i did and it cleaned up most of my threads.

they are from my old motor, and have been torqued a good 4 or 5 times. as compared to the 2 times for my current ones. just wasnt sure about any stretching or possible metal fatigue since theyve been used a bunch of times.
update::: the headstud is fine, but it crossthreaded and eventually stripped the threads in the nut. i guess the stud is much stronger than the nut. i took the stud out and cleaned all the assy lube off it to doublecheck the threads then put it back into the block. the arps have the same pitch and thread on the nuts as the aebs, so on that one im just gonna use the arp nut. just gotta get a new hg again (this was on the last tq sequence) and throw it together
