Default Replacing cam shafts

I am really frusterated as I had my head redone on my gsr motor and now putting it back together...I have the cams out and want to put them back in. The distributor is not in its origional position and nothing is marked. I want to put these cams back on in the correct position as they were before. Anyone know how I can go about doing this. As I recall the two outside pistons were up and the two middle were down. Any refference of help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Set the crank pulley to TDC, then install the cams in the TDC position. The distributor will only fit the intake cam one way since the key is slightly offset.

Is there like pictures or what not, write up, how to's for this?

This is what I did...

I turned the shaft over so the two outside pistons are all the way to the top and center 2 are all the way down....

Then I put the camshafts in (still connected to the cams) and made sure the arrows were pointing up...They dont seem to sit good (lifters seem to be needed to be puched down) do i just go ahead and put on the cam shaft covers and this will not harm the camshafts?

Thanks again for the reply

You should really pick up a repair manual, but there's some info here: http://www.c-speedracing.com/h...m.php

I get how it needs to be put back but what it I took off the camshafts without the TDC being correct on the 1st cylinder? Can I just crank the crankshaft pulley so it lines up and then install the camshafts no problem?
