New Energy Bushings... STILL PLAY
So the shifter bushings did make a noticeable difference but there is still so much play. I still cant shift right in to gears (3rd, 4th) without grinding.
Also when im in a gear i can swing the shifter in all kinds of directions, but in neutral its tightened up alot. what else could this be?
thanks
ryan

if you're grinding, there are no bushings that will fix that.sorry.
if you're moving a lot while in gear, have checked that theirs an actual pin connecting your shift linkage and not a bolt?
and which bushings did you replace? there's alot of em down there.

I got the red energy shifter bushings, 2 total, one under shifter, one next 2 tranny on the shifter linkage. I know grinding is a tranny problem but there has to be away to tighten the shifter up, way to loose, tomuch play. Anymore info anyone?Ill check pin, is it on tranny or shifter side?

don't mean to thread steal but when i'm at the track and i slam it into 2nd and 4th it grinds like no other... it sometimes does it in 3rd as well... and the shifter still pulls back farther towards me even when i'm in gear... shifter bushing?? maybe worn out?
sorry to thread steal. just didn't see the need to start a new topic

alotta play seems like the bitch-pin. I had a worn out bitch-pin connecting my shift linkage to tranny. Caused alotta play. Got a new one. Less play. Try buying a new one. good luck

Provided that all bolts are properly tightened, free play in the shift lever can be caused by 3 things: 1) the stabilizer bushings, 2) deteriorated or missing O-rings, collars, and thrust washers that are fitted into the linkage eye at the bottom of the shift lever, or 3) lack of a (properly functioning) spring pin where the linkage is attached to the transmission shift shaft. A bolt there will not work.

Sounds like broken drivetrain torque mounts and possibly worn stabilizer bushings.
You should probably get under there and look at it, rather than just randomly guessing.

torque mounts are fine... i checked that today... i'll jack it up tomorrow and check the stabilizer bushings. i'm gonna be boosting soon so i need to get this straightened out
