Try putting some dw40 or try adjusting the nuts on the throttle cable by the intake! Maybe your throttle isnt returning back properly GOOD LUCK

Meanin your idle air control valve which is stuck at the bottom of your throttle body! Take it offf and clean it

A high idle can be a vacuum leak or an IACV issue - though if it's accelerating on its own I'd say it's a stuck butterfly.

Spray some WD-40 or Silicone Spray in the hinge that the butterfly travels on, also on the outside where the butterfly rotor rotates on.

Also, make sure the inside of the TB isn't dented or damaged or anything preventing it from closing all the way. Also, make sure the throttle cable is adjusted right.

ok so i did the idle air control and it seems to be screwed in all the way and as for the throttle cable it moves in and out on its own.i have not taken the throttle body off and looked inside of it. I had a performance shop replace my thorttle body and now im accelerationg by myself so whatever was done 1 i dont know and 2 i know it has something to do with the throttle body i was tolled by a friend its prob my butterfly. Also the idling high part also is strange because my tuner tuned my car with the distributor totally advanced which i was tolled was very dangerous. but my car doesnt detonate. the other thing that i thought was strange is we retarted the distributor all the way back and it idles at 2 500-2000 rpms so im totally lost one person claims its the tune the other tells me its just a cable and a close friend who knows alot said its prob my butterly. so i guess the next thing to check is the butterfly. so how do i go about doing that i take off the throttle body completely and there is a metallic thing inside correct?

Don't just start messing with your distributor if you don't know what you're doing. Now you've screwed up the ignition timing. You'll have to take it somewhere and have it set to 16 degrees. If something is wrong with your engine, that may very well be fully advanced. Ignition timing affects idle speed. You can't just advance/retard the distributor w/out first jumpering the ECU into diagnostic mode.

You don't have to remove a throttle body to check/clean the butterfly.

You clearly have no clue what you are doing. I strongly recommend you not touch the engine and take it to someone that at least has a basic understanding and it willing to read a repair manual.

Not only that, but between setting a dizzy all the way advanced, and ******* up a throttle body install, it's pretty clear that the people he's taking it to have no clue what they're doing.

Find a new shop to take your car to. Stop taking it wherever you're taking it now - b/c they don't know what the **** they're doing. You shouldn't need to advance your distributor all the way, that's ridiculous.
