Default Blow off valves

Hi to all members i would like to know what is the correct way to set the blow off valve- Soft / Hard is there a formula you follow? I heard that the more air (Phsssss) sound is less air that is going to the engine, just need help with this Thanks in advance

Adjust it to the point where there will be no leaks from the bov and no compressor surge from the turbo. That is what the adjustable screw is for.

bump for answers...idk if this is a noob question or not but i always wondered the same thing how to adjust spring pressure on a bov.

If you adjust it too tight then the bov won't release pressure, therefore the pressure will be push back to the turbo spinning the turbine backward. That is what we would call it compressor surge. If you put adjust it too loose the bov might not be able to hold the pressure and leak boost. Therefore you will have a huge boost leak. So like I said before adjust it to where it cover what I stated above. Hope this will get you a idea. And you shouldn't worry about the bov sound too much. As long as it work the it's all good. Unless you are a true ricer and like that cool bov sounds.

When you are getting boost pressure on whatever spring rate your internal/external wastegate is set at. If not, you are leaking somewhere. It could be from the bov and it could be from somewhere else.
