Default help...why can i hit 15psi with a stock map sensor?

i was out tuning last night with my new boost controller. looks like i gave it about one more turn that i should have because the boost kept climbing to 15psi and then stopped. i then let of throttle as my eyes were going from wideband to boost guage. i was running mid 11's afr at 15psi boost. i thought that my map sensor would cut out at 11psi or so. im using crome and freelog to tune. i had boost cut at 10.2psi in crome. does anyone know whats goingo n?

because MAP sensors read boost as voltage and the stock one doesnt high enough

Stock map is not going to stop you from boosting over 11psi, it jsut wont be able to read pass 11 psi which in term mean you cant tuned for anything more then 11 psi.

Boost cut at 10 psi doesnt mean 10 psi is the max it goes to, it will probably hit 12-13

oh, i thought it cut out...so keep tuning for about 12psi and watch timng and afr...will it read off my timing maps?

no it will not... it will make a reverse transgression into vtec taking in consideration the rotation of the earth, time at your place, when was the last time u ate and if chuck norris is kicking someone the engine WILL BLOW...

yes it will read the last table of boost and it will not read any further... i have tuned cars that got stock maps at 20 psi... u will see a nice spike in 2D on the tables as it goes into boost etc... NOT ADVISABLE if u ask me...

well i could still run 11-12 psi safely then with my stock map sensor.

You cant run any more than 10.47psi on a stock Honda Map Sensor. Anything more and the car will enter limp mode. What you can do is get a 3 bar map sensor and get the car tuned. The car will not run without it being chipped for a 3 bar.

It will use the nubmers from the last column if you maybe go 1 or 2 psi higher. BUT if you ran say 20psi on a stock map sensor it will throw a cel and go into limp mode. If a check engine didnt come on at that psi and it ran the numbers from the last column good luck with your next build.

I'd say you just don't have your boost cut working right.

I don't know why, but this thread has brought in the wildest of speculation. The stock MAP sensor is 1.75bar. It reads about 4.7-4.8 volts at that pressure, and thats it. Meaning it will always apear to an EMS set for the 1.75bar sensor that you're at 1.75bar pressure when you're at OR above 1.75bar pressure. As far as fuel and ignition goes, it will be using the same ignition retard values and fuel values at 1.75bar as it does for 2bar, 3.2bar, etc (anything over 1.75bar).

The *stock* ecu will throw a CEL at over ~1psi of possitive pressure, a chipped ecu usually will not, especially one with the extra boost maps.
