Stock map sensor question.
I know the stock map sensor on my d16z6 is good to around 11 lbs boost right? What happens when you boost higher. Does it stop changing the ignition timing or something?

Re: Stock map sensor question.
My car hits 15 lbs on some nights and it pulls like a mother. Happens all of the time. Doesnt seem to affect anything.

The car will not hit a boost cut or throw a check engine light.
What it will do is keep thinking the car is at 11 psi and it will keep reading the fuel and ignition values for the last column in the map.
Which is bad news if it was tuned to run 10-11 psi already and you turn it up more..

no, technically your boost cut would have to be set at 10psi or so. depending on how the sensor reads and how accurate your Watergate spring.
i would say 9.5 to give room for boost cut.

If it was tuned a bit right with conservative timing as you say MrDeath, it may tollerate some overboosting. However, I never ever suggest people run w/o boost cut active. I prefer ~10psi myself, but I've done 10.9psi for a guy who wanted all he could get. Just test it out to make sure it works, since each sensor is a little different. I know someone who overboosted with a 2.5bar, since his sensor never reported enough psi to activate his boost cut. His gauge showed ~30psi, but the ecu was fueling for ~21psi... It pulled HARD - until it shot a forged rod out the block.
