Default transmision removal from the engine

Besides the six bolts or so and the dust shield, what else do you need to remove if anything inorder to seperate the tranny from the block? No mounts are on the tranny/engine, and i don't want to use screw drivers and pry on the block and tranny damaging the casings. is there any other way besides the pry bar? they don't have a bolt you can screw in the casing or something inorder to seperate it from the engine? IE disc on the hub, you use a screw to seperate it from the hub. thanks for your help guys.

i couldnt really think of any other way, and i've done that separation 3 times so far. i usually just stick a pry bar in the timing window of the block, there was never a need for major torque/prying, never did any kind of damage. just a little nudge to get it started, then wiggled it the rest of the way out.

Or bump it with big rubber mallet (on either sides) while tranny is being supported of course

It shouldn't take more than just a bit of pressure with a pry bar to separate the trans from the engine. I've always used a pry bar and never had damage from it. If you're worried about it, cover the pry bar with a shop towel.
