Pulling an engine without transmission?
Alright... Here's another stupid question...
Is it possible to pull an engine without pulling the transmission and removing axles?
I would think that with a hoist, after removing the engine mount on the timing belt side, then the stabilizers, you could unbolt the tranny and swing the block out of the way?

you will have a much easier time removing the entire engine/tranny at the same time and then seperating it... than you would if you were to try to seperate it, then remove only the engine.
You won't save much time doing this. In fact I think it might take longer
Also there is not much room on the drivers side to slide the block off the tranny.
I haven't done it... I don't think this is the best way to go about it..
What are you trying to accomplish by doing this?\
It is also MUCH easier to put the tranny back onto the block if it's NOT in the engine compartment

I was trying to save some time... I could have sworn that 5 years ago when we pulled the engine after it dropped the valve, we pulled the block but the trans was still there...

You can do it, you have to support the trans the whole time. I did it once, and never wanted to do it that way again.
You have to pull the motor off the tranny, almost slam it into the driver side to get the PP to clear the bellhousing. Then you have to turn it clockwise 75-90 degrees to clear everything nicely.
It's quicker and easier to take apart the suspension and pull the axles out, and then the engine with the trans. Just make sure to take the axle nuts off before you take the wheels off, lol I always forget.....

^^^ True story...
Against the advice of people on here, I attempted to pull just the block this past weekend... I unbolted everything from the block itself and got the damn thing about 3/4 of an inch away from the transmission, but it just wouldn't go any damn further...
Sooo... Now I'm in the process of removing the axles & everything else to yank the whole thing...
